The Country Walk neighborhood small group - so named because the group was founded in the Country Walk subdivision in Powder Springs. This group began meeting about ten years ago and was one of the first small groups to form once Macland made small group ministry a priority within the church.

The Country Walk group is comprised primarily of "empty-nester" couples (five couples in all), although one family still has a young person in high school. They meet at a different member's home one Saturday evening a month - at 6 p.m. - for dinner, followed by a Bible study lesson. The Prayer of Jabez, the Beatitudes, Living in the Psalms, and Knowing Each Other are just a few of the many study topics the group has covered over the years. The primary focus of the Country Walk group is fellowship, and members rarely plan any additional social activities outside of their monthly meetings since their dinners together and Bible study lessons are so much fun already! The group does occasionally take their show on the road by serving a meal for and sharing good times with the residents at the Men's Extension Shelter.

When asked what being a part of the Country Walk neighborhood small group has meant to her, Marlene replies, "It's friendship and fellowship. Our small group has changed my life through and because of the absolutely wonderful friendships I've found with these people. They are marvelous, and I know there is always someone I can call on." With 10 tightly-knit members enjoying Bible study and fellowship together, and also reaching out in service to others, the Country Walk small group has all of the right ingredients to make people feel welcome and to help members grow in their walk with Christ.
